The motivation for Political Invaders came one day while I was watching the news and saw this video of a pie being thrown at Ann Coulter.

I should start by saying that I do NOT support, endorse, or approve of throwing real pies at people. It's rude, anti-democratic, anti-social, and the guys who did it really acted like dufuses (not to mention the crowd beat the crap out of them...)

Nevertheless, Miss Coulter did skillfully dodge the pie, and it makes for kind of a funny video to watch.

The next element for the success of the game was that I had already written "Scott's Space Invaders", and so I already had a Space Invaders Style game engine.

Everything was in place, we just needed to add some images of some politicians to make it work.

In order to make the images of the politicians, I used stock textures and applied them to a flat rounded sort of mesh that was left over from Astro Hunter 3D Deluxe. This left us with a video game that looked a lot like space invaders, but with political foes.

I jazzed it up with a few additional touches like making the shield barricades red-white-blue, but it was still a space invaders games.

The space invaders version of political invaders was just a little bland, so I decided to revamp the game with the new galagalaxian engine that I've been developing.

To the left is one such screen shot. In that shot, there's an Al Gore and a Ted Kennedy, each being protected by rotating defenders -- you can pick out a couple of hillary clintons, some monica lewinskys, a howard dean, jane fonda, and even a michael moore.

There's about 100 levels in the new version of political invaders, each one different from the last.

This page started with a an image of Miss Coulter dodging a pie; it's only fitting that the page should also end with a shot of Ann Coulter dodging a pie.

In this picture, you can see two pies heading in the direction of Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly (Mr. O'Reilly's located on a TV just as he should be)

There's also three bombs headed for the player ship; a quick dodge to the right should be enough to save the ship.
